Update on Fema declaration

June 19-20, 2019 Severe Storm Event Joint FEMA/NJOEM/SBA Public Assistance and Individual Assistance PDA FINAL Results

To All,

The June 19 to 20, 2019 Severe Storm Event Joint FEMA/NJOEM/SBA Public Assistance and Individual Assistance PDAs were performed on July 16 to 19, 2019 in the counties of Burlington, Camden and Gloucester.

Public Assistance-

Please see the attached, June 19 to 20, 2019 Severe Storm Event Joint FEMA/NJOEM Public Assistance Preliminary Damage Assessments (PDA) FINAL Results:

-At the conclusion of the Joint PDAs, on July 19, 2019, the public owned property damage totals were $10,106,604.18. These damages are much lower than the NJ State PA Damage Threshold of $13,187,841.00 (see attached).

-Since the results of the Joint FEMA/NJOEM Public Assistance PDA were still short of the NJ State PA Damage Threshold required to request a Presidential Disaster Declaration, NJOEM granted an extension. The counties and municipalities were given the opportunity to submit additional public property damages until August 9, 2019 to be included in the Joint PDA Results.

-The attached June 19 to 20, 2019 Severe Storm Event Joint FEMA/NJOEMPublic Assistance Preliminary Damage Assessments (PDA) FINAL Results total damages are still only $10,106,604.18, more than $3 million short of the required NJ State Threshold.

Due to the above facts and the attached Joint PA PDA results, NJOEM has decided NOT to request a Presidential Public Assistance Disaster Declaration for the June 19 to 20, 2019 Severe Storm Event (see attached PDA Guidance).

Individual Assistance-

See the below comparison and supporting attachments between the August 2018 and the June 2019 Storm Events Joint Individual Assistance PDAs.

-A request for a Presidential Individual Assistance Disaster Declaration for the August 2018 storm event was submitted to FEMA and subsequently denied.

-The denied August 2018 storm event had much more IA damages compared to the recent June 19 to 20, 2019 storm event.

Due to these facts and the below listed Individual Assistance Joint PDAs Comparison, NJOEM has decided NOT to request a Presidential Individual Assistance Disaster Declaration for the June 19 to 20, 2019 Severe Storm Event.

The Small Business Administration PDAs did yield enough damages to private property and businesses required for a request of an SBA Disaster Declaration in the counties of Burlington, Camden and Gloucester.  NJOEM is moving forward with an SBA Disaster Declaration request for this event for the counties of Burlington, Camden and Gloucester.
